By Alberta Arquilla Sabin

An uncommon Michigan small-press book telling the story of a young Italian boy and his dream of immigrating to the United States.

The book has a strong family-history connection. Alberta Arquilla Sabin later described Pietro as being based on her father’s childhood and immigration from Italy to the United States. Sabin was a longtime Michigan educator who published only two books during her retirement.

This makes Pietro especially interesting for collectors of Italian-American immigration stories, Michigan authors, family history, regional publishing, and small-press books.

Best fit for: Italian-American history collectors, Michigan collectors, genealogy and family-history readers, immigration-history readers, and collectors of uncommon regional books.

Major hook: Scarce 2010 Michigan small-press book based on the author’s own father’s childhood and immigration from Italy.

Condition: Very Good overall. Interior appears clean and binding appears sound. There is a prior gift inscription on the title page reading “a gift from Fred H / CRC / 2011.” This is not the author’s signature and no added provenance value is claimed. Light normal handling wear may be present. See photos for full condition details.
