A bright 1969 meeting of poetry and Pop Art. Gerald Huckaby’s 35 poems are presented through Corita Kent’s hand lettering, bold colors, page design, and visual style.
Corita Kent was an artist, teacher, and social-justice advocate known for joining words, faith, advertising, politics, and Pop Art. Huckaby taught literature at Immaculate Heart College, where Kent also taught and led the art department.
This is the first trade edition issued after a separate limited edition of 250 copies. This copy is not numbered and is not part of that limited issue.
Hand-signed and inscribed by both contributors. Corita wrote in red ink, “Mr. & Mrs. Martin Gray, with love – Corita.” Gerald Huckaby added in blue ink, “+ God rest you merry – Ger Huckaby.” The recipient’s surname appears to read Gray but has not been fully verified.
