The Home Bible Ruth Greenough 1951 HC DJ William Blake Illustrations KJV

About this book

The Home Bible: Arranged for Family Reading from the King James Version by Ruth Hornblower Greenough, published by Harper & Brothers.

This copy carries a 1950 copyright with Harper’s B-A date code, corresponding to a February 1951 printing.

Greenough arranges selections from the King James Bible into a continuous narrative intended for family reading, retaining much of the language of the KJV while creating a more accessible reading sequence.

The volume is especially attractive for its illustrations based on designs by William Blake and decorative work by Rudolph Ruzicka. Comparable bibliographic descriptions confirm these features and the book’s substantial 393-page format.

Hardcover with the original illustrated dust jacket.

Condition: Dust jacket is present and shows substantial age-related wear including rubbing, creasing, edge wear, chips, and small tears, particularly around the corners and spine ends. Jacket remains substantially complete and displays well despite the wear. Interior pages show normal age toning. No writing seen on the pages inspected. Binding appears sound. Dust jacket has a protective plastic covering attached.

Perfect for collectors of vintage Bibles, William Blake-related books, religious illustration, King James Bible adaptations, and mid-century family devotional books.
